The original and best, Harley of Scotland Seamfree Saddle Shoulder Shetlands are world renowned for their superior comfort, colour and handle. Knitted right here in Aberdeenshire, their seam-free homespun construction is enhanced by the unique feel of their yarn, which is milled in some of the softest water in Scotland, within it's most Nor-Easterly point. The yarn used to create a Harley Shetland is multi-hued and vibrant in colour. Due to its seam free ‘in-the-round’ hand knitted effect, it is loved worldwide for it’s smooth, flattering silhouette. To make it even better, it wastes absolutely no precious wool in cutting and fully fashioning, making it also a truly sustainable classic.

We supply Harley of Scotland Seamless Saddle Shoulder Shetland’s in 2 ply as standard as we found this to be the ideal weight for general wear and layering, without overheating the wearer. However we do supply a thicker Shetland (also knitted by Harley of Scotland) in our 4 ply Blue Mogganer North Sea Shetland.

100% Supersoft Lambswool

Med Grey is a standard school uniform, mid toned steel grey with a sight dappling of colour.

Our knitwear can be dry cleaned, which is ultimately what we recommend.

If you prefer to wash at home, please hand wash only in cool to hand-warm water in a wool friendly detergent such as Woolite or Stergene (in the measurements specified on the bottle).

Dry flat and gently reshape whilst still damp.

Please note wool does not need to be washed as much, because it naturally resists odour, moisture and bacteria.

Remember…

- Never machine wash

- Never hand wash in hot water

- Never wash in biological or non-wool detergent

Warm have doubts it’s Shetland wool

It’s a warm sweater but thought it would be hardier, bigger more substantial. I look on the tag and it says “new wool” not Shetland wool. I had slightly higher expectations.

Thank you so much for your review and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

We’d love to clarify a little about our ‘Shetland’ yarn. It’s a special character type of heritage Scottish lambswool, more known for its unique qualities, rather than a specific location. All of our yarn labeled as Shetland is spun from this traditional Scottish Shetland-character wool in Scotland and is proudly labelled ‘new wool’ in line with British labelling regulations. Our knitter, Harley of Scotland has been making these same garments for nearly a hundred years. What makes ours stand out is that it’s just a touch softer, thanks to the fantastic soft Nor-Easterly water we use in our wet finishing process – a little bonus we’re proud of.

That said, if you’re looking for wool straight from Shetland sheep, we have our Voe collection. These garments are made from geographic Shetland wool, spun right in Shetland from actual Shetland Sheep. It’s a distinct option – beautifully unique and unbrushable – so it might feel a bit different from what you’d typically imagine as Shetland wool. It’s a great choice if you’re after that genuine Shetland experience and you would like to support the island in particular.

You might notice our garments feel nice and light, and that’s because so many of our customers adore the 2-ply finish – it’s just the right amount of cozy warmth without ever feeling too heavy. But if you’d prefer something thicker, we offer options like our 4-ply North Sea Shetland and even a brand-new 6-ply Explorer version – plenty of choices to suit your style and provide extra warmth.

I hope this sheds some light on things, and we’d love to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Thanks again for your feedback – we truly value your input.

Kind regards,
Juliet
