Born of a fishing family
Long before anyone picked up knitting needles for a living, ours was a fishing family. In 1929 our founder's grandfather started a small cottage industry knitting for the fishing fleet, and the family has been in the North-East Scotland knitting business ever since.
Growing up among the wool
The next generation grew up surrounded by traditional Scottish textiles, fishermen's workwear and Fair Isle knitting. There were research trips to Shetland, Norway and Fair Isle itself, and teenage years spent working in the family's textile mill.
It has been a constant, happy thread through the family's life, made all the stronger for being shared.
Art school
Our founder, Juliet, followed a love of the creative arts to Gray's School of Art, specialising in knitting and printmaking, and graduated in 2005 with first class honours.
Then came Bosie
In 2015, shortly after becoming a mother herself, Juliet started Bosie to sell her own designs: a range of knitwear, most of it knitted by the family, made with exacting standards, real pride, sustainability and close attention to detail. It is rooted firmly in Scottish heritage, with a fresh, varied style, pure new wool and honest provenance.
