Our values

Animal welfare is our highest priority.

We are fully committed to the humane wellbeing of the sheep and goats that supply the amazing ecological fibres we knit our jumpers with, and we treat both them and their beautiful by-product with the great respect they deserve.

How we care

All our yarns are mulesing free

Mulesing is generally a Merino practice, and our Italian Merino spinner is mulesing free. Our Shetland, Voe, Glenugie Nep and British breed wools are non-Merino, mulesing free yarns. Goats are never mulesed, so our cashmere, spun in Scotland by Todd & Duncan, is naturally free from it too.

RWS certified spinners

Our Scottish, British and Italian spinners are Responsible Wool Standard certified, or in the process of becoming so.

Never plucked

We never use yarns or fibres that are painfully plucked from animals.

High welfare origins

We only source from countries with high animal welfare standards.

From fleece to jumper

  1. Shorn with care

Over the centuries sheep have been bred to need shearing. It keeps them healthy and comfortable, and their fleece is a natural, renewable by-product we treat with great respect.

  2. Spun in Scotland, Britain and Italy

The fleece travels to trusted spinners in Scotland, Britain and Italy, who are Responsible Wool Standard certified or on their way to it.

  3. Knitted seamlessly in Aberdeenshire

Harley of Scotland, our family mill since 1929, knits our jumpers seam-free in North-East Scotland.

  4. Yours to keep
