Our new Blue Mogganer Lighthouse is a beautifully thick and solid Glenugie Nep Fisherman’s sweater with an unusal extra-wide funnel neck, contemporary shaping and chunky ribbed cuffs. We got a little bit obsessed with creating this knit after seeing a picture of the actor Robert Pattinson from the film The Lighthouse, and how elegant the neck of his sweater looked in that particular photograph. So we enlisted the authentically vintage marine knitting know-how of Harley of Scotland to help us evoke this look and we are truly delighted with the results. Knitted seam-free in beautifully rustic and rich-hued Soft Donegal Merino with lovely nep’s in the wool, each colour is named after an island on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland.

Colour / Design Story

+ -

Our Blue Mogganer Sweater range is inspired in fashioning/shaping, by the old and long established fishing communities of our locality in the North East of Scotland. Seam free, chunky and exquisitely soft in handle, they are true replicas of the traditional garments Scottish Mariners would have worn in the extremely harsh North Sea, in the early 1900’s. Our town of Peterhead was nicknamed The ‘Blue Toon’ and fishermen were locally branded as ‘Blue Mogganer's' in tribute to the (often Blue) Moggan's (thick knitted socks) they wore. Made locally by Harley of Scotland whose founder, Peter Harley, started out his business knitting some of those very Moggan's, the real deal.

Garment Care

+ -

Our knitwear can be dry cleaned, which is ultimately what we recommend.

If you prefer to wash at home, please hand wash only in cool to hand-warm water in a wool friendly detergent such as Woolite or Stergene (in the measurements specified on the bottle).

Dry flat and gently reshape whilst still damp.

Please note wool does not need to be washed as much, because it naturally resists odour, moisture and bacteria.

Remember…

- Never machine wash

- Never hand wash in hot water

- Never wash in biological or non-wool detergent
