Description

+ -

This is a rustic and rough hardwearing British wool knit that benefits from layering a shirt or Tee underneath, over the skin.

Our Blue Mogganer Northeaster is inspired by the old and long established fishing communities of our locality in the North East of Scotland, who often had to make do with the colours nature gave them when creating their patterns. Seam free, chunky and hard wearing, it is an undyed yoke knitted entirely in the colours of the natural British sheep fleece, which gives it an earthy neutrality and the coherent tonal beauty only nature can provide.

Colour / Design Story

+ -

Our Blue Mogganer Sweater range is inspired in fashioning/shaping, by the old and long established fishing communities of our locality in the North East of Scotland. Seam free, chunky and exquisitely soft in handle, they are true replicas of the traditional garments Scottish Mariners would have worn in the extremely harsh North Sea, in the early 1900’s. Our town of Peterhead was nicknamed The ‘Blue Toon’ and fishermen were locally branded as ‘Blue Mogganer's' in tribute to the (often Blue) Moggan's (thick knitted socks) they wore. Made locally by Harley of Scotland whose founder, Peter Harley, started out his business knitting some of those very Moggan's, the real deal.

Garment Care

+ -

Our knitwear can be dry cleaned, which is ultimately what we recommend.

If you prefer to wash at home, please hand wash only in cool to hand-warm water in a wool friendly detergent such as Woolite or Stergene (in the measurements specified on the bottle).

Dry flat and gently reshape whilst still damp.

Please note wool does not need to be washed as much, because it naturally resists odour, moisture and bacteria.

Remember…

- Never machine wash

- Never hand wash in hot water

- Never wash in biological or non-wool detergent
